In case of an accident

An accident on the ferry

Were you involved in a traffic accident on the ferry?

If a traffic accident occurred between two vehicles during embarkation or disembarkation from the ferry, it’s a standard insurance case. If no one was injured in the accident, you can immediately begin documenting the incident:

  • Inform a crew member about the accident.
  • Capture the accident scene on the ferry using your smartphone.
  • Exchange contact information between the parties involved.
  • Arrange with the other vehicle’s driver a meeting place for statement recording (for example, the port parking lot) after the ferry docks.
  • Upon docking, disembark from the ferry and meet at the agreed location.
  • Document the incident on paper, including a description with a diagram, driver and vehicle information, insurance company names, and confirmation that both drivers agree with the written record.
  • If necessary, contact TS Laevad customer support for information at [email protected] or +372 618 1310.

After documenting the accident and signing the document, you may leave the port with your vehicles. Later, you will need to send the materials to your insurance company. Before starting your journey, make sure that driving the vehicle is safe.

If a passenger is injured

  • Approach a member of the ferry’s crew and describe what happened and what assistance is needed.

Other accidents

In other cases (such as hitting another vehicle’s door, breaking a mirror, a motorcycle tipping over, driving onto another vehicle, or hitting a barrier or another vehicle while descending from another deck), follow these steps:

  • Inform a crew member about the accident and document the incident together.
  • Capture the accident scene on the ferry using your smartphone.
  • Exchange contact information between the parties involved.
  • Arrange with the other vehicle’s driver a meeting place for statement recording (for example, the port parking lot) after the ferry docks.
  • Once the ferry docks, leave the ferry with your car if its condition allows.
  • Contact your insurance company, who will provide initial guidance on the next steps.
  • If necessary, contact TS Laevad customer support for information at [email protected] or +372 618 1310.
